A doodle puppy is a puppy that is a cross between a labradoodle or a golden retriever and a poodle. There are many interesting cross breeds that involve poodles and many breeders are finding that the two breeds are a great combination.
With both temperments being fairly easy going, the resulting doodle is adorable carrying both traits and having a curly haired appearance that is nearly irresistible to many. The main goal of creating such a breed was to create a designer dog that caused fewer allergies as a companion or a service animal. This particular breed comes in all sizes and all sorts of colors just as poodles do. Poodles come in black, brown, apricot, white, and a multicolor that is often loved. The resulting dog from the combination can vary in color even within the same litter and the hair is so curly and cute that it looks as if they've been sleeping in curlers. Smaller breeds have been crossed with miniature poodles while the larger breeds have been crossed with a standard sized poodle. Regardless of size, these puppies are adorable and highly coveted. While doodles don't shed, they do require a lot of hair care. The hair, although curly, is often unruly and can easily mat requiring a lot of brushing and maintenance.
There are no particular breeding standards as these are not recognized by the American Kennel Association. Thus, if you're seeking a registered breed, these are not going to be what you're looking for.
As a pet owner, it's important to realize that there are varying factors to consider when choosing a puppy. If you can meet both of the parents you'll have a fairly good idea of a puppy's temperament. Of course, there is always the oddball that differs from the entire litter and will give you a run for your money. If you're seeking the best puppy of the litter you'll want to take your time getting to know the puppies in the litter and choosing carefully. Easily trainable, the goal of this particular breed is to become part of your family and please you. Of course, you have to survive puppyhood first. Have plenty of toys at the ready to distract your little one from mischief and plan to spend plenty of quality time with your new doodle puppy to help ease him or her into the transition to their new home.
